About Sarah Hamilton

Through my work as an educator, journalist and in government and politics, I have committed myself to public service, to using my education and experience to bring forward smart policy and to champion fresh ideas.

I’m a proud Edmontonian.

I know from experience the hard-work that goes into government -- I’ve worked with the City of Edmonton and the Government of Alberta. In my role with the Minister of Health, I created and lead the Southwest Wellness Initiative that sought to bring together wellness strategies at different levels of government community by community in a citizen-first model.

My passion for public service is a recurring theme. I currently own and operate my own business, SPARROW Communications & Public Relations, which works with nonprofit organizations. As an adjunct professor in Chicago, I worked with students from diverse backgrounds to help develop their communication and critical thinking skills. As a journalist, my goal was to always to clearly communicate a story, bridging the gap between an event and the reader’s understanding.

I am currently the Marketing and Communications Chair for the World Partnership Walk, and have served on the board of Latitude 53 Contemporary Art, an artist-run gallery here in Edmonton. I also serve on the Lessard Community League Board as the Membership Director. I have held senior positions in political campaigns at all levels of government.

I grew up in Lessard and I graduated from the University of Alberta. I received a Master of Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and am proud to have returned home to start my business and be close to my family. Edmonton is a beautiful city and I enjoy exploring all it has to offer with my family and friends.
